New Orleans Marriott Appoints Thorsten Leighty as Director of Food & Beverage
Leighty brings over two decades of hospitality experience to elevate the hotel’s culinary and guest dining experience.

New Orleans, LA (September 11, 2025) – New Orleans Marriott proudly announces the promotion of Thorsten Leighty to Director of Food & Beverage. In this elevated role, Leighty will oversee all culinary and beverage operations at the iconic property located in the heart of the French Quarter.

A native of Wiesbaden, Germany, Leighty joined the New Orleans Marriott in 2013 as the hotel’s Executive Chef, bringing with him a wealth of experience from Michelin-starred kitchens in Europe and luxury resorts across the United States. His leadership has been instrumental in transforming the hotel’s culinary identity, from reimagining banquet offerings to curating innovative dining concepts that reflect the spirit of New Orleans.
Prior to his time in New Orleans, Leighty held executive culinary roles at prestigious properties including Eden Roc Renaissance Resort & Spa in Miami Beach, JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa in Hawaii, and JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa in Arizona. Known for his refined approach to Cajun, Creole, and international cuisines, he has led culinary teams for high-profile events such as the Academy Awards and private dinners for dignitaries and celebrities.
